Looking Glass
Looking Glass is a collection of self-reflexive portraits and still lives. The subjects are transfixed by a mirrored surface (their phones), and through them, become temporarily transported into an alternate world. Whether they are posing or taking a picture of someone else, I generate a voyeuristic feedback loop. The subjects are caught in a moment of disengagement while “performing” themselves in hedonistic public spaces such as dance floors, the beach, or crowded bars. While they are distracted, having tumbled down the rabbit-hole of their personal devices, I observe them through my camera lens; my very own “looking glass.”
